He completed his primary education at kundrathur panchayat union school till grade V and continued upto SSLC in sekkizhar higher secondary school. He has done his PUC at A.M.Jain college meenambakkam which comes under Alandur Constitution and later engaged himself in weaving business & weavers welfare.

He had been elected twice as the Kundrathur Town Panchayath president and has done an excellent public service from 1996 untill 2006 (10 years).

He Contested in 2016 Election against Ex.Minister Banrutti Ramachandran and won the election with the lead of 18,000 votes and served effectively as MLA for Alandur Constituency.

And he contested in 2021 Assembly election against Mrs.Valarmathi, in Alandur Assembly constituency and won the election with a lead of nearly 41,000 votes. He was currently serving as the Minister for Rural Industries and Tamilnadu urban habitat development board.

He also serving as the President for Saint Sekkizhar Trust. He has been giving welfare things to the poor, and scholarship for the students scoring high marks in the public examination during Sekkizhar festival held annually by the Kundrathur Saint Sekkizhar Trust.
